What are grounds for divorce in Florida?

Video Transcription

Florida is what we call a no-fault divorce state. That means that the criteria that we used to have to show for divorce many years ago, no longer need to be shown. For instance, abandonment, cruelty, adultery, things like that that used to be shown in divorce cases are no longer necessary. It only takes one party to want the divorce in Florida and typically speaking, there’s not too much the other person can do about it once the case is filed. The only grounds that are required to be pled in the complaint, are that the marriage is irretrievably broken, which means broken beyond repair.
