The filing of a bankruptcy may greatly affect a divorce in Florida. The filing of a bankruptcy may stay or stop the divorce action, and unless the bankruptcy court grants the permission for the divorce to go forward it may sit. Now, it also depends on which type of case is filed, whether it’s a chapter seven or a chapter 13, and there are certain issues in the divorce case that may not be affected by the bankruptcy. I do cover this subject in a book that I have written, and that I’ve had published called, Bankruptcy Get the Fresh Start That You Deserve. I cover the subject in the book, and I would highly recommend that you ask for a copy of the book when you contact my office.
