The trustee is appointed in each bankruptcy case depending on which Chapter is filed. The Chapter 13 trustee is in charge of administering the payments because Chapter 13 involves a payment plan. With Chapter 7, the trustee is in charge of administering the estate. Generally, if there are any assets that are going to be sold and liquidated by the trustee, he or she is in charge of doing that. The trustee is also in charge of paying any moneys owed to creditors. That would be in the case of a Chapter 13 trustee or a Chapter 7 trustee.
